Our Wedding

Our Story Jack and Rachel met unexpectedly on the last night of spring break in 2023 in Gulf Shores, Alabama. From that first connection, their lives quickly became intertwined. After graduating, Jack moved to Austin, Texas, Rachel's hometown where they built a life together filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. Now, they look forward to celebrating their marriage surrounded by family and friends. Their family has grown in the sweetest way welcoming Lolita, their chihuahua, and their son, John Harrison (Baby Jack), who arrived to ring in the new year on January 1, 2025.

Weekend Events 

Guadalajara is full of charm, culture, and vibrant energy. Here are some ideas to make the most of your trip: Tlaquepaque – This colorful, artsy town is especially meaningful to Rachel, as it’s where her parents, Manuel and Irma, are from and where they fell in love. Tlaquepaque is famous for handicrafts, galleries, and traditional Mexican charm. Don’t miss El Parián, the largest cantina in the world, for live mariachi music, festive drinks, and an unforgettable local atmosphere. In particular we recommend stopping by Galería Sergio Bustamante &nbsp;renowned for its surrealist sculptures and whimsical designs that captivate visitors. If you like artists like Salvador Dali you will love it! Fun Fact: Rachel's Parents both spent some time working with ceramics when they lived in Tlaqupaqe. Historic Downtown – Visit the stunning Guadalajara Cathedral, Teatro Degollado, and the picturesque plazas for a taste of the city’s rich history and beautiful architecture. Hospicio Cabañas – A UNESCO World Heritage site, thisformer orphanage is famous for its incredible murals by José Clemente Orozco and grand colonial architecture. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in art, history, and culture. Explore Colonia Americana &amp; Avenida Chapultepec – Trendy cafés, galleries, boutiques, and nightlife all within walking distance. Perfect for a leisurely stroll or an evening out. Tequila Town Excursion – Just a short drive away, explore agave fields, distilleries, and taste authentic tequila. (We’ll have a group excursion the day after the wedding!) Pueblos Mágicos Nearby – If you have extra time, consider visiting charming towns like Ajijic, Mazamitla or Tapalpa for stunning scenery and a quieter pace. For getting around the Guadalajara metropolitan area, we recommend using Uber. It’s the easiest way to travel safely and comfortably without having to negotiate fares with taxis.

Nestled in Zapopan, just 25 minutes from Guadalajara, Hacienda Santa Lucía was established in 1630 and is one of the largest and oldest haciendas in Jalisco. The estate historically produced corn, wheat, barley, and maguey, and housed a mezcal factory called La Taberna.The chapel, consecrated in 1690, remains a central feature. The grounds include preserved ruins, gardens, and courtyards, reflecting the colonial architecture and scale of the hacienda.
